Wanda A. Clark

I lost a good friend yesterday to the infirmaties and illnesses of old age. Wanda A. Clark was 92.

Wanda was a character! She could talk your arm and a leg off or sit quietly, knitting, while you unburdened your heart.
Wanda taught in a one-room school, worked for Red Cross disaster teams, reared her two children Mary Ann and Duncan as a single parent, volunteered for years in the local elementary schools to help children learned to read and write. Wanda was passionate about education.
Wanda was also passionate about her genealogy. I drove her to several conferences, as she didn’t drive. Some of our favorite times were spent discussing our latest finds.
Wanda was also a community volunteer. For years she was the costume mistress of the Salina Community Theater. She was also a volunteer and eventually an employee of the Smoky Hill Museum in the collections management department. She really enjoyed working on the old wood working tools, as her father was a carpenter.
Wanda went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, 13 August 2010. Now she can query the ancestors in person.
I’ll miss her!
