Portable genealogy

I’m an old dog, trying to learn new tricks. Not that I want to go back to genealogy before personal computers and the Internet, heaven forbid. But I hate upgrading hardware and software.

What brought on this whine is I need to replace my ancient laptop computer that I use for “road work.” “Old Blue” isn’t WIFI compatible. What’s the point in having an Internet-based business, if you can’t access the Internet when on the road?

Previously I used public libraries but those usually have time limits on their Internet-access computers. And they don’t allow midnight Internet sufing in pajamas.

Fortunately I have a son who has two degrees in computer science, one of which being useful for helping Mom purchase a new tool. I want my cake and to eat it too! Now that’s possible with the new lightweight, high-powered laptops. I want a big screen with big print, lots of memory to capture images as well as text, and it has to be light weight for trudging through airports with my digital projector. And not expensive. In my price range, I can get two out of the three. But I want it all!

Guess that means I’d better get off my blog and back to work so I can afford to purchase what I want and think I need.
